It’s been quite a busy holiday season for us! One of our favorite projects of the last month was for Christine’s uncle’s 60th birthday party. With eight young grandkids, Uncle Jim is often seen as a Santa Claus figure, and his family (correctly!) thought it would be adorable to celebrate his December birthday with a Santa cake.
This was our very first “pull-apart” cake, and we absolutely loved making it. We started by baking 4 dozen raspberry creme-filled yellow cupcakes. Then, we laid them out to form Santa’s head.
It may look like a bunch of randomly placed cupcakes above, but once you start adding the face, hat and signature white beard, it all starts coming together.
…and here he is! We loved being there with Jim and the rest of the family to celebrate this milestone birthday, but it was all the more special to see how excited the kids were to see Santa Claus in cupcake form. Hint, parents: This is a GREAT way to avoid a lot of the mess that comes with cutting cake for kids.
We can’t wait to make more cupcake cakes!
